“This much-needed instructional workbook can be a valuable tool for teachers in special education or for those who help hearing impaired students in regular schools.”

--The Volta Review

“Includes and excellent table of problems and solutions arranged by the part of the aid affected. The entire workbook is well organized and clearly written with helpful illustrations.”

--Ear and Hearing

Wired for Sound is designed for secondary school students. Eighteen lessons cover such topics as how hearing is tested, how to understand an audiogram, how hearing aids help, how students feel about hearing loss, and how to take care of a hearing aid. Most lessons begin with a list of new vocabulary words and conclude with an exercise. The book ends with an answer key to the questions. The workbook is written at a fifth-grade reading level and has many illustrations.

Carole Bugosh Simko is an itinerant hearing therapist with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit in Pennsylvania.
