The Deaf Way, The Deaf Way II Reader, The Deaf Way II Anthology

In July 2002, the second Deaf Way Conference and Festival, hosted by Gallaudet University, took place in Washington, D.C., attracting more than 9,700 people from around the world. Researchers, artists, performers, and others converged to create a singular blend of scholarship and social interaction. They came from six continents to flock to performances, art displays, seminars, and many other functions and exhibits to celebrate the successes of Deaf people everywhere. Deaf Way II: A Visual Anthology presents a spectacular overview of the diverse events that occurred during those six momentous days.

The new Deaf Way II video takes viewers on a whirlwind tour of the festival, showcasing scenes of the sensational opening ceremony and performances, the magnificent art exhibited at Gallaudet University, the Millennium Arts Center, and the Kennedy Center, and pointed lectures by international scholars on issues vital to Deaf people worldwide. Viewers will feel the same heady rush of excitement and emotion as they shift from wondrous dance, comedy, and drama segments to ingenious camp activities and theater for children. Interviews with Deaf artists and attendees add insight to the varied experiences of the festival. The ultimate effect of this meticulously edited portrayal ensures a genuine, moving record of the multifaceted marvels of the Deaf Way II that will last a lifetime.
