young children than teenagers or adults, and people of color were conspicuously underrepresented. The nature of deaf leadership historically reflects the larger society, thus we were able to find many more photographs of white men  
than of women or ethnic/racial groups. It is our hope that this book will prompt more people to come forward with their collections and stories to fill the historical gaps that remain.
